EastEnders fans are certain they know what’s next for Joel Marshall as Vicki Fowler unravels after his brutal assault.

EastEnders fans are convinced that Joel Marshall will escape justice for his attack on Vicki Fowler, after spotting a major clue.

Earlier this week, Vicki (Alice Haig) was devastated to learn that Joel (Max Murray) planned to plead not guilty to assaulting her, a revelation that sent her into a spiral of despair.

After a frightening run-in with a married man named Damon, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) stepped in to protect Vicki. The pair grew closer, sharing a surprising kiss, only to be caught by Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).

In Wednesday’s BBC soap episode (November 19), troubled teen Joel returned to screens after being arrested and remanded for his attack on Vicki.

Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) visited his son at the young offenders’ institute and was immediately concerned to see Joel with a black eye, reports OK!.

Joel felt a glimmer of hope when Ross promised he would do everything he could to help. But the mood quickly turned tense when Ross suggested that Joel admit to the crime and take responsibility for his actions.

Feeling let down that his father wasn’t willing to fight for him, Joel’s situation grew even more difficult when Ross explained just how much Vicki was struggling after the attack.

Ross also told Joel about Vicki’s encounter with Damon at The Queen Vic and highlighted her habit of interfering in other people’s business.

EastEnders fans were furious at Ross’ remarks, with many claiming he has effectively handed his son a “get-out-of-jail-free” card. Numerous viewers predicted that Joel might now claim self-defence at his trial, given Vicki’s recent confrontations.

Fans took to X to share their outrage, with one posting: “#EastEnders If Vicki only knew that Ross has just added fuel to the fire by telling Joel about her outburst in the Vic. Joel’s going to use this to make Vicki look like the violent one in court.”
