“Emmerdale is poised for a major schedule shake-up this week”
Emmerdale’s upcoming schedule change has been confirmed, as the ITV soap will be taken off the air this week.
The show, which usually airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, will not be broadcast on Thursday, October 9.
Instead, ITV will show an international friendly between England and Wales—the sides’ first meeting since England’s 3-0 victory at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The match, held at Wembley Stadium, will kick off at 7.45pm, with coverage starting at 7pm and running until 10.05pm. The ITV News at Ten will follow from 10.05pm to 10.35pm.
Emmerdale will return the next evening, Friday, October 10, with a 30-minute episode at 7.30pm.

That’s not all—Emmerdale will also see schedule changes on Tuesday, October 14.
The soap will be taken off the air again as ITV broadcasts the FIFA World Cup Group K qualifier between Latvia and England.
The match will kick off at 7.45pm at Daugava Stadium in Riga, with live coverage running from 7pm to 10.05pm. Emmerdale will return to its usual schedule for the rest of the week.
It’s been an eventful few weeks in the Dales, following the exposure of villain John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) crimes.
The antagonist notably drove himself and his husband, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), off a cliff, before coercing Caleb Miligan (William Ash) into helping him flee abroad.

Elsewhere in Emmerdale, Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) have been facing marital difficulties after Gabby discovered Vinny’s struggles with his sexuality. Meanwhile, Vinny learned about Gabby’s one-night stand in Portugal.
Another ongoing storyline follows April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), who has been reluctantly distributing drugs for Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) in an effort to settle Dylan Penders’ (Fred Kettle) debt.
Last week, April’s double life came crashing down when she left her brother, Leo Goskirk (Harvey Rogerson), to meet Ray’s demands. In her rush to leave, she accidentally dropped pills from her bag. Her worst fears were realized when she returned home to find Leo being rushed into an ambulance after ingesting the pills.

A panicked April later encountered local farmer Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths), who was revealed to be both the brains behind the drugs operation and Ray’s mother.
Celia warned April about the consequences of going to the authorities, saying: “Maybe one day you’ll go missing again, only this time, they won’t find you. Not all of you anyway.”
This week, April moved in with her grandfather, Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), after her stepmother, Rhona (Zoe Henry), decided she needed some space.
Celia appeared pleased with the move, telling Ray: “That grandad Bob could be a useful link to exploit a bit more… We can work with this.” What does Celia have planned?
