Emmerdale has announced a fresh love storyline between two residents, though the update hasn’t been welcomed by everyone.
Emmerdale’s Vinny Dingle was left apologising after news of his new relationship became public.
Viewers of the ITV soap know that Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) finally acted on their feelings and shared a passionate kiss on Tuesday, February 24. Over the past year, their chemistry had steadily intensified as the housemates grew closer and exchanged increasingly flirtatious moments.
On Thursday, February 26, Vinny and Lewis looked happier than ever as they made their romance official during a heartfelt chat with Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) at The Hop. Mandy was overjoyed by the revelation and struggled to contain her excitement.
“You two — like, together, as a couple?” she exclaimed in a loud whisper, before offering her enthusiastic congratulations to the delighted pair.
Vinny swiftly cut short his mum’s excitement, urging her to lower her voice as his ex-wife Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) could have been close enough to hear.
“It’s just nice to finally have something positive to celebrate,” Mandy added, smiling warmly at the couple. However, it seemed Gabby had caught wind of the announcement, watching on with a less-than-impressed expression.
Later, keen not to upset his former partner, Vinny said sorry to Gabby for Mandy’s enthusiastic reaction. Gabby handled the situation calmly.
“It’s fine,” she assured him. “We live in the same village — it’s only natural we’ll run into each other.”
Vinny replied: “We probably shouldn’t have been in here to begin with,” but Gabby responded firmly, “Vinny, honestly, I’m glad for you and Lewis,” though a hint of sadness flickered across her face.
Vinny and Gabby married in 2024, hoping to build a new life together with her son, Thomas. However, they ended their marriage in October 2025, just weeks after tying the knot.
The breakup followed revelations of infidelity, with Gabby admitting she had cheated on Vinny while in Portugal, at a time when he was still coming to terms with his sexuality.
Now, it seems the exes have put their past aside, as Vinny finds happiness with Lewis. Meanwhile, Emmerdale viewers criticised Mandy for being insensitive toward Gabby but also celebrated the new romance between Vinny and Lewis.
Taking to X, one Emmerdale fan wrote: “What was Vinny thinking, telling Mandy about him and Lewis getting together at The Hop, right in front of Gabby? #Emmerdale.”
