Emmerdale may be bringing back a beloved character as a major twist unfolds for young Carl Holliday.
Emmerdale viewers are speculating that a former character could be making a comeback following a shocking twist involving Carl Holliday.
The soap is currently exploring a disturbing storyline centred on Carl (Charlie Joyce) and Clemmie Reed (Mabel Addison). Recently, it was revealed that Carl — the son of long-time character Jimmy King (Nick Miles) — had been involved in possessing and sharing an inappropriate image of a child.
It was later discovered that the photo in question was of Clemmie, which Carl had circulated among classmates, leaving Clemmie devastated and her mother, Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), furious.
As a result, the police paid a visit to Carl, Jimmy, and his stepmum Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler), warning them that the matter would be treated very seriously — much to the shock and distress of the family.
In Monday’s episode (October 13), the drama escalated as Carl was questioned at the police station, where he confessed to being the one who shared the photo.
Following his admission, Nicola was informed that social services might become involved as the investigation continues.
With tensions rising, fans now believe the soap could be reintroducing a familiar face. On an Emmerdale fan page, viewers have been speculating that Carl’s mother, Juliette Holliday (Amelia Curtis), might soon return to the village.
One fan commented: “If social services get involved with Nicola and Jimmy, this could be the perfect chance to bring Elliot’s mum, Juliette, back to the village — that would really put their 15-year marriage to the test!” Another added: “She’d definitely stir up some drama.”
Fans will remember that Juliette first appeared in Emmerdale back in 2014, when it was revealed she became pregnant with Jimmy’s child due to a mix-up at the fertility clinic — she was accidentally inseminated with his sperm instead of her intended donor’s.
She arrived in the village asking Jimmy to sign documents giving up his parental rights to their unborn baby. After giving birth to their son, Carl, Juliette later handed Jimmy full parental responsibility in 2016 before leaving the village.
Juliette’s most recent appearance was in 2021, when she returned wanting to reconnect with Carl. Her reappearance created plenty of tension, putting pressure on Jimmy and Nicola’s marriage.
Eventually, Juliette moved to New York and severed contact with Carl once more, as her new partner, Allister, wasn’t fond of children and she found motherhood difficult to cope with.
