Emmerdale fans were thrilled to see Evan Fletcher return to the screen, remarking on how much he’s ‘grown up fast’ since his birth in 2023.

Emmerdale has provided a rare update on Evan Fletcher as the little boy returned to screens, much to fans’ delight.
Viewers of the ITV soap will recall that Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) and his ex-wife Dawn (Olivia Bromley) welcomed their son in 2023, who was diagnosed with leukemia within his first year.
The show rarely gives updates on his condition, but on Friday (February 20), Billy and Dawn addressed their son’s long-term illness for the first time in a while, offering fans a much-anticipated update.
The former couple spoke about Evan, revealing that his treatment for blood cancer is going well. While talking about their kids and their divorce, Billy asked Dawn: “Do we tell them that Evan’s treatment is working?”

Dawn responded: “Yeah. I think we should tell them together. It’s pretty monumental news, isn’t it?”
During Monday’s episode in the village (February 23), Evan made his return in a scene with his mum Dawn and step-grandmother Kim Tate (Claire King) at Home Farm.
“I feel like I can just enjoy him being a normal toddler, you know, not a toddler battling leukemia,” Dawn told Kim as Evan sat on the sofa, happily enjoying a snack.
Dawn also revealed that her conditional divorce order from Billy had been finalised, making her officially single and free to pursue her blossoming romance with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).
Emmerdale fans were stunned as Evan, played by Malachi McKenzie, appeared as a fully grown toddler, having “grown up so fast.”

On X, one fan commented: “I didn’t even know Evan could walk yet — he was still a baby in arms last time we saw him #Emmerdale.”
Another added: “Finally, Evan makes an appearance! Great news, but it feels like they haven’t done much with his storyline. #Emmerdale,” while a third wrote: “Baby Evan is here! He’s grown so much. #Emmerdale @emmerdale.”
A different viewer joked: “A rare sighting of Evan? Next time we see him, he’ll be 15! #Emmerdale.”
Over on Facebook, one fan said: “Aww, we finally get to see Evan. He’s adorable,” while another simply noted: “Grown up so fast.”
