“Emmerdale’s mum-and-son pair, Claudette and Charles, are fan favourites, but viewers have been caught up by one surprising detail about the two ITV stars.”

Emmerdale fans have been left surprised after learning about the surprisingly small age gap between the actors who play mother and son, Claudette and Charles Anderson, on the ITV soap.
Local vicar Charles (Kevin Mathurin) made his debut on the show in 2020 and quickly became a fan favourite.
He’s also been at the centre of several major storylines, including his ill-fated romance with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) and the tragic death of his son, Ethan (Emile John).
In 2023, Charles’ mother, Claudette (Flo Wilson), arrived in the Dales and soon stirred things up, quickly making her presence felt with her nosy and meddling ways

Recently, Claudette took a role as a receptionist at the local GP and has also welcomed Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) into her home as he adjusts to life after prison. Meanwhile, Charles has been helping Kev and Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) renew their wedding vows.
Away from the Dales, fans have been left stunned after learning the real-life age gap between the actors portraying Claudette and Charles.

On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, viewers highlighted the 10-year age gap between the actors, commenting: “Flo Wilson, who plays Charles’ mum, is only 62, while Kevin Mathurin, who plays Charles, was born in 1973, making him 52…”
Another fan reacted with: “No way!” while a third joked: “She must have had Charles at 10 years old.” One more pointed out: “It’s common for actors to play parents who aren’t much older than their children — just look at Audrey and Gail in Coronation Street.”

Before joining Emmerdale, Kevin Mathurin, who plays Charles, appeared in shows such as BBC’s Doctors and the series Bronzed. Flo Wilson, who portrays Claudette, has appeared in Coronation Street and Shameless.
She also has a connection to comedy icon Peter Kay, having appeared in his TV series That Peter Kay Thing back in 2000.
In addition, Flo has previously appeared on Emmerdale in two separate roles as a nurse. She first cared for Perdita in August 2007, and later played Nurse Bradshaw, who supported Zak Dingle during his personal struggles.
