Ned Porteous joined the long-running ITV drama in 2017 as the scheming Joe Tate — and it didn’t take long for him to stir up trouble in the village.
Over the years, he’s been involved in a number of major storylines, from fiery rivalries to a shocking organ-stealing twist, making his time in the Dales far from dull.
Lately, his ruthless side has resurfaced, as he recently blackmailed the Sugdens and framed Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb).
His relationship with Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), with whom he had an affair last year, has also been progressing well, and last week the couple decided to try for a baby.
Additionally, he recently clashed with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and is determined to shake things up after Cain and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) took his expensive car.
Joe had arrived in the village driving the flashy new car after bonding with Dawn’s son, Lucas. In a bid to teach the villain a lesson, Cain and Sarah made off with the vehicle.
As Joe tried to track down his missing car, the villagers couldn’t resist poking fun at him in hilarious scenes, leaving him furious. He was so enraged that he told Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) he was determined to make Cain’s life miserable.
With all the recent chaos in the Dales, fans now suspect that Joe could be on his way out. Recently, actor Ned shared photos of his professional headshot on social media.
His followers were quick to see it as a hint that the actor might be exploring new opportunities, as performers often update their headshots when seeking fresh roles.
