Emmerdale viewers express worry for a show legend
Emmerdale fans think they’ve uncovered a legend’s exit, nearly 39 years after their first appearance.
Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) has been a fixture on the long-running ITV soap since 1986 and has faced several challenges in recent months.
At the end of last year, his relationship with Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) ended after Eric drained her life savings on a failed crypto venture. Brenda later left the village for a worldwide cruise with Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling).
In June, Eric’s health took a turn for the worse following a serious fall at home. He was hospitalised, with Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) attempting to arrange a carer for his return.
After an unsuccessful trial with a carer he found unsuitable, Eric reluctantly agreed to let Kerry look after him—on the condition that he paid her.

Things got worse for Eric when he received a heartbreaking update from Brenda on his 80th birthday.
“Well, it would have been nice if it didn’t come with a Dear John letter. She’s not coming back,” Eric admitted.
“She’s rediscovered herself, a new lease on life, and unfortunately, I’m not part of it. And who can blame her after the way I treated her? Thank you, Brenda, for letting me know on my birthday.”
Eric later added that he wished Brenda happiness because “she deserves it.”
Now, several Emmerdale fans have grown concerned for the soap’s longest-serving star after his absence from screens for several months. Many viewers have taken to social media to voice their worries.

“Can someone remind me what’s happened to Eric Pollard?” one fan asked on a Facebook page.
Another added: “I know, I’ve been wondering where he’s been lately. Hopefully his Parkinson’s hasn’t worsened,” while a third commented: “Omg, I hope he’s not leaving!”
A fourth fan shared similar concerns: “Yeah, no one has seen him for ages. He better not leave like Brenda did,” and another wrote: “I’m worried the next time we see him it’ll be in a hospital bed.”
Eric isn’t the only long-standing character currently absent from the ITV soap, as fans have also noted that Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) hasn’t appeared on screen recently.
Cain was last seen on October 22, when he helped Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) encourage the villagers to get their prostates checked following the GP’s recent cancer scare.
