Emmerdale showcased an unexpected exit during Thursday’s instalment of the ITV favourite.

Emmerdale viewers said goodbye to a character in Thursday’s episode as an actor made his exit from the ITV soap.
Fans will remember that Kev Townsend, portrayed by Chris Coghill, arrived in the village earlier this year as the secret, estranged husband of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley).
The pair had tied the knot while serving time in prison, and when Kev was released, he travelled to the village hoping to reunite with Robert — not realising Robert’s true feelings were still with his ex-husband, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
Although Robert tried to hide his marriage to Kev, the truth eventually came out. Robert ultimately chose to end things with Kev, who had claimed he was terminally ill and that Robert stood to inherit his supposed fortune.

Robert and Aaron attempted to keep their renewed relationship a secret, but in classic soap fashion, Kev eventually uncovered the truth. In Thursday’s episode, Kev sought revenge, holding the pair hostage with a sword — and an unsuspecting Liam Cavanagh was dragged into the chaos as well.
As Kev threatened to kill all three, he lunged at Aaron. Robert stepped in to protect him and was injured in the arm, which Liam quickly treated.
During the tense scenes, DS Carter rang the doorbell while investigating Caleb Milligan, having received information about drugs being moved through the depot business.
But Kev, already on edge, became convinced that one of them had called the police and insisted he couldn’t risk being arrested again. After they all denied contacting authorities, and after Robert apologised for hurting him but made it clear his heart belonged to Aaron, Kev realised he had no reason left to stay in the village.

Liam urged Kev to walk away for good while he still had the chance to remain a free man. Kev then chose to leave the village, but before going, he shared a heartfelt moment with his long-lost biological son, Lewis Barton, advising him to be cautious about who he trusts and to protect himself from getting hurt.
Reports suggest that Emmerdale is open to bringing Kev back in the future — so could this really be the last time we see him?
Fans quickly reacted on Twitter, now known as X, with one viewer writing: “Since Kev is Lewis’s father, I doubt this is the last we’ll see of him. He’ll probably return for the crossover. #Emmerdale #Robron.”
