Emmerdale fans are sure another DNA bombshell is coming — and this time, it centres on April Windsor.
Emmerdale fans are now convinced that Marlon Dingle isn’t April Windsor’s biological father, as the teen becomes further entangled in a grooming storyline involving drug dealing.
As regular viewers will know, April (Amelia Flanagan) believes she killed a man named Callum after striking out in self-defence against the sinister predator.
The incident happened after April was manipulated into sex work by drug dealers Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) and her son Ray Walters (Joe Absolom).
However, fans are aware that Callum actually survived the head injury, with Ray continuing to hide the truth from April.
In Wednesday’s (November 19) episode, Ray issued yet another chilling warning, telling April she must put in even more work to repay her debt after her recent arrest in Newcastle.
In his latest act of manipulation, Ray told April that Celia had invested a significant amount of time and effort covering up her mistakes — and that April would now have to repay that debt.
In a dark twist, the cruel dealer then pressed a bundle of cash into April’s hand, urging her to spend the day with her boyfriend, Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle). But he also made it clear that she needed to keep a low profile and avoid drawing any further attention to what she’s been involved in.
Later at The Hide, Dylan accidentally dropped a glass, which instantly triggered April. The sound sent her spiralling into a flashback of the terrifying moment when Callum tried to assault her — the moment she struck him over the head with a glass bottle.
When April snapped back to the present, she was shaken by the disturbing flashback and quickly fled the scene. Ray watched her go with irritation, clearly worried that she was starting to unravel.
Many Emmerdale fans are urging April to open up to her dad, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), about everything Ray and Celia have been putting her through.
But some viewers have a very different theory — they think her biological father might actually be Ross Barton (Michael Parr), given how close he once was to April’s mum, Donna Windsor (Verity Rushworth).
Although their connection is complicated, Ross was the great love of Donna’s life and played a fatherly role to April for a time. Could he be the one to step in and protect her from Ray and Celia?
Fans will remember that Ross already has a son, Moses, with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), and Charity is currently expecting his second child. So the question remains: could Ross secretly be April’s dad from all those years ago?
Over on Facebook, viewers have been speculating about a huge upcoming DNA twist. One fan posted: “Hear me out — what if April is actually Ross’s daughter? She resembles him far more than Marlon (yes, I know it’s a soap!), and it would explain their strong bond, given his history with her mum.”
Another simply declared: “April is Ross’s child.”
A third agreed, adding: “I think you might be onto something — and if not, the scriptwriters should hire you! It would be an incredible twist, lol.”
Someone else weighed in, saying: “Marlon is April’s real dad, not Ross… but honestly, I’d love it if the truth turned out to be that she is Ross’s daughter, because I adore the connection they share.”
