Jaye Griffiths takes on the role of villain Celia Daniels in Emmerdale, a character who’s stirred up plenty of drama.
Emmerdale star Jaye Griffiths, who plays Celia Daniels, has revealed her secret to maintaining youthful looks.
The actress joined the ITV soap earlier this year as farmer Celia, and it didn’t take long for her character to stir up trouble. As Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) neighbouring tenant, the two went into business together — but this week, a shocking twist unfolded.
In Thursday night’s episode (October 2), Celia stunned viewers when she violently slapped April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan). The drama escalated further as it was revealed that Celia is the mastermind behind the drug gang.

Celia issued a chilling warning to April about the rules and consequences of going to the police, even going so far as to threaten her life.
Away from the tense on-screen drama, actress Jaye Griffiths appeared on Loose Women on Friday (October 3) to discuss her time in the Dales. Speaking with the panel, the TV star teased that the storyline is “going to get worse.” The conversation later shifted to the subject of Jaye’s age.

Host Kaye Adams remarked: “You’re 61, soon to be 62, and you’ve spoken about the roles you’re offered as an older actor — but when it comes to playing Celia, your age is completely irrelevant.”
Katie Piper then asked if Jaye was passionate about running, to which she replied: “Yes, I’m actually fitter now than I was at 30!”
Speaking about her role as villain Celia, Jaye added: “I love playing her. It’s so freeing — you let go of any sense of empathy and just turn everything up. She doesn’t care.”
Jaye is a familiar face to TV audiences, having built an impressive career beyond Emmerdale. She previously starred in ITV’s The Bill as D.I. Sally Johnson, in BBC’s Bugs as Ros Henderson, and also took on the roles of Elizabeth Croft in Doctors and Elle Gardner in Casualty and its spin-off Holby City.

Reflecting on her character Celia, Jaye previously explained: “She’s very single-minded — and if you stand in her way, you’d better move. That’s what I enjoy about playing her. She can’t understand why others don’t get it. For her, it’s simple: do what she wants, or face the consequences.”
She continued: “It’s not complicated — just follow her lead and everything will be fine. But when someone resists, that’s when it gets interesting, because she’ll handle each person differently. She has a sharp eye for reading people and tailors her approach depending on their character. She’s not evil — just… different!”
