“Emmerdale actress Jaye Griffiths hints at a sinister history for her villain Celia Daniels”

Emmerdale star Jaye Griffiths has revealed why Celia Daniels rarely exposes her neck.
This summer, the ITV soap introduced the villainous character as Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J. Robb) neighboring farmer, and the two immediately clashed.
However, it soon became clear that Celia isn’t actually involved in farming herself. Instead, she runs a criminal drug operation alongside her adoptive son, Ray Walters (Joe Absolom).
The duo has also manipulated teenagers April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) into distributing drugs to pay off a seemingly endless debt, with April additionally being coerced into sexual exploitation.

Celia and Ray’s sinister schemes extend further, as they are exploiting vulnerable people as forced labor on their farm, including Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards).
In an interview with the Daily Star and other media outlets, actress Jaye Griffiths revealed that Celia has a traumatic past, which is why she always wears a neck scarf to conceal a horrific scar from an attempted decapitation.
She explained: “She wears a cravat because someone tried to cut her head off. It’s very subtle, only covering part of her neck, since the attack didn’t fully succeed. That’s the reason she wears it.”

However, during a recent date with Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), Celia chose not to wear her usual neck scarf and donned a flattering dress, leaving her neck more exposed. Jaye Griffiths confirmed that Bob noticed the scar but never commented on it.
She explained: *”I asked the execs not to have it mentioned in the scripts because I never want it brought up. There’s a beautiful moment where Bob glances at my neck and then quickly looks away—that’s the only time, and that’s it.
“It’s just a subtle nod to her past, to a life where terrible things have happened. That’s why she wears a cravat.”*

Jaye also hinted at growing tension between Celia and Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy), who has romantic feelings for her son, Ray.
The villain disapproves of Ray having a partner and feels “heartbroken” at the idea of him moving on and building his own family life.
Viewers would have seen Laurel attempt to kiss Ray, but he didn’t respond quickly enough due to his phone ringing, all while Celia watched from across the road.
Jaye added: “Laurel leans in to kiss him, but he doesn’t kiss her back, and that shatters Celia because it proves she isn’t just a fling—she’s serious to him. He cares that much, and that’s too real for Celia to handle.”

Celia fears losing control over Ray and can’t bear the idea of someone else loving him.
Jaye explained: *”If there’s anyone in the world she tries to love in her own way, it’s Ray.
“Constantly calling him an idiot or a moron is just her way of showing love and devotion. Now, the thought that he might leave her—that could almost break Celia.”*
