"Emmerdale’s Kev hints at the ‘real outcome’ of dying character"

Chris Coghill appears to have put to rest speculation about his character’s fate on Emmerdale, after viewers questioned whether Kev was truly facing death.

The newcomer to the ITV soap recently delivered heartbreaking news to his secret husband, Robert Sugden, revealing that he is terminally ill with just six months to live.

Suggesting his time might be even shorter, Kev told Robert that he had accepted his fate and hoped to spend his remaining days alongside his husband.

Fans, however, remained sceptical, with many theorising that Kev could be faking his illness.

Now, actor Chris seems to have confirmed that his character is indeed destined for a tragic ending, having been informed by producers during casting that Kev would die, according to the Mirror.

Chris admitted that learning this initially made him question whether he wanted to take on the role.

He said: “When I was offered the role and told that he dies, I thought, I like Emmerdale and I’d like to be around for a bit, so I’d want to do something that had some potential longevity. But when I learned more about the character and was told they weren’t introducing anyone else, I thought, actually this sounds like a right laugh.”

This confirms that Kev’s terminal diagnosis is real on the show, with Chris being briefed about his character’s fate before filming began. The actor has also given fans a glimpse of what to expect from Kev, amid growing tension with Robert’s partner, Aaron Dingle.

In upcoming episodes, Kev’s true identity will be revealed, exposing Robert’s ‘double life’.

Despite the drama surrounding Aaron, Chris teased some heartwarming moments with Robert’s sister, Victoria Sugden. He explained: “There’s quite a nice little storyline with Victoria. She sees a vulnerability in him, and there’s some genuinely sweet moments that happen.”

However, the same cannot be said for his relationship with Aaron. Chris explained: “We don’t like each other. There’s a lot of tension with Aaron, though I do enjoy working with Danny [Miller].”

It seems Kev is in for some friction with the Dingle family. Speaking to The Mirror, Chris said: “Aaron’s a Dingle, but I wouldn’t want to have a fight with Cain. Charity and Chastity get involved to some extent, but most of it is really focused on the three of us.”

Chris also revealed that he gets along well with his co-stars Danny Miller and Ryan Hawley, who play Aaron and Robert. On his relationship with Ryan, he said: “We share a dressing room upstairs, and it’s hilarious, isn’t it?”

Ryan added: “We have a good laugh, share similar senses of humour, and really enjoy each other’s company.”
