Emmerdale favourite Dominic Brunt looked very different when he first appeared on screen as much-loved Paddy Kirk.

Emmerdale fans are used to seeing Paddy Kirk sporting his trademark bald look, but the much-loved character looked quite different in his early days.
Paddy, played by Dominic Brunt, first arrived on the long-running ITV soap in 1997 as the village’s warm-hearted vet. It didn’t take long for him to become one of the show’s most popular and enduring characters.
Over the years, Dominic’s alter ego has been at the centre of some major storylines. From shocking affairs to the devastating death of his child, Paddy’s life in the Dales has been anything but quiet.
And right now, the drama continues — as last month he helped conceal the murder of Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) after his father, Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards), killed him.

Since then, Paddy has been doing everything he can to contain the fallout and stop his traumatised father from saying too much. But after Bear admitted to killing Ray, Paddy has been left terrified that he could end up behind bars as well.
Amid all the on-screen turmoil, fans have recently been distracted by a throwback photo of Dominic sporting hair. In contrast to his now-familiar bald look, the old snap shows him with a full head of mousy brown hair — a far cry from the appearance viewers are used to today.

Responding to the throwback photo of Dominic with hair, one fan commented on an Emmerdale Facebook page: “Handsome then, handsome now! Love Paddy.” Another wrote: “He looks so different.” A third admitted: “I don’t remember him having hair?!” while someone else added: “I wouldn’t have recognised Dominic with hair.”
Meanwhile, Dominic revealed in 2019 that the soap once used hair spray-on products to disguise his thinning hair as he began losing it. Eventually, however, he decided to fully embrace the change and shaved it all off.

“I began thinning a bit at the back, so they used this spray to cover it up. But after a couple of years, I finally said, ‘Please, please, please can I just shave it off?’” Dominic explained during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine.
He continued: “There’s really no dignity in having your hair sprayed on every morning. If there was a pill that could bring it all back, I’d want thick, curly, Italian-style hair — and I’d grow it as big and bold as possible. But that’s not going to happen.”
