Former Coronation Street star appears to be ‘turned away’ from Ricky Hatton’s funeral
The funeral of boxing legend Ricky Hatton took place in Manchester on Friday, drawing a number of well-known faces from TV, music, and sports.
Former Coronation Street star Steven Arnold appeared to be stopped from entering the service at Manchester Cathedral. Arnold, best known for his role as Ashley Peacock on the soap, was seen speaking with security and staff who seemed to be checking a guest list. It remains unclear whether he was ultimately allowed inside, but the clip, shared by Sky News, sparked speculation on social media.
“Did we just see Ashley from Coronation Street get turned away from the funeral on Sky News?” one person wrote on X. Another added, “That’s definitely what happened, wasn’t it?”
Hatton, who was found dead at his home last month at the age of 46, was one of Britain’s most cherished boxers, winning world titles in two weight divisions during his career. Following a drive through Manchester, the memorial service at the cathedral was held in his honor, with a final stop at the Etihad Stadium, home to Hatton’s beloved Manchester City.

Arnold portrayed the character in the Manchester-based Coronation Street for 15 years, from 1995 to 2010, and has since appeared in several short films.
Among those attending Hatton’s funeral were former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney and Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. Several boxing legends, including Tyson Fury, Barry McGuigan, and Amir Khan, were also present.
Speaking at the service, Khan remarked: “He was an incredible fighter, one of the very best. He inspired so many of us in the boxing world.”

“He’ll certainly be remembered as one of Britain’s greatest. Very cheerful, fun-loving, deeply respected, and genuinely kind. He was always a champion of the people.
“It’s wonderful to be here and see so much of the boxing community come together to pay their respects. The hundreds lining the streets show just how loved he was.”
Hatton’s family also delivered heartfelt eulogies as the boxing legend was laid to rest. Thousands of well-wishers lined the streets as the funeral procession traveled from Stockport Road to Manchester Cathedral for the service. Following this, Hatton’s closest friends and family attended a private committal ceremony.
Hatton, who is reported to be leaving a £35 million estate to his family, is survived by his three children: Campbell, 24, Millie, 13, and Fearne, 12.
