Fans believe they know what happens after Bear’s arrest in Emmerdale — and it spells trouble

Bear Wolf remains under police interrogation after confessing to killing Emmerdale villain Ray Walters.

Fans of Emmerdale think they’ve figured out what’s coming next following Bear Wolf’s arrest — and they fear it won’t end well.

Viewers of the ITV soap know that villain Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) was killed last month, with a special week of flashback episodes unveiling the list of suspects. In a dramatic twist, it was eventually revealed that Bear (Joshua Richards) was responsible for the drug dealer’s death, after previously being held captive at Ray’s farm for months last year.

Bear strangled Ray in a desperate attempt to protect his son, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), along with young Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle), who were both under threat.

In an effort to stop his father from confessing, Paddy chose to keep Bear at Tenant House and restricted his contact with the rest of the village. However, as he began to notice Bear’s mental health declining, Paddy ultimately decided it was time for his dad to see a counsellor.

Bear appeared to be making positive strides in therapy last week, but things took a turn when he admitted to killing Ray after the counsellor described him as a “good man.” Overcome with guilt, Bear reported himself to the police and was later arrested.

In Tuesday’s (February 17) episode — now streaming on ITVX — Paddy accompanied his father for another round of questioning.

During the interview, Bear was challenged over inconsistencies in his statements, particularly after previously claiming that Paddy and Dylan weren’t there when the killing happened. Paddy repeatedly stepped in to back up his dad’s version of events, prompting DS Walsh (Amanda Ryan) to question whether he could also be implicated.

Tensions escalated when the detective doubted that Bear had managed to move Ray’s body on his own, leaving Paddy visibly panicked.

Later, Paddy filled in Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry), and his wife Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley), who had just arrived back from Ireland. But the situation quickly became more serious when DC Chen (Tuyen Do) turned up at the cottage and informed Paddy and Dylan that they were required at the police station the following day for questioning.

Once the officers had gone, Paddy began to panic. “That’s it, they’re going to piece everything together,” he said anxiously. “None of you were there today. They don’t believe my dad disposed of Ray by himself. They’re convinced I had something to do with it. We’re going to end up paying for this — I can feel it.”

Now, some Emmerdale viewers are convinced that Dylan might step in and tell the police he acted alone, potentially resulting in Bear being freed.

Dylan has already admitted to Paddy that he feels responsible for Ray’s death, especially since he was the first to get caught up with the dangerous villain. Could he decide to shoulder the blame himself?

“I think Dylan will admit to helping Bear to protect Paddy, and that’s how he’ll exit,” one fan wrote on a Facebook discussion page.

Others seemed to agree. One added: “I’ve been thinking that over the last few episodes. He hasn’t been acting like himself,” while another commented: “With the Ray/Celia storyline wrapping up, I think this could be Dylan’s way out — maybe going to jail.”

A fourth fan shared a similar view: “Paddy will be heartbroken, but I can see Dylan taking full responsibility for this. Either way, it’s going to be hard to watch.”
