Anthony Trueman has been behaving oddly in recent weeks, and EastEnders fans are now speculating why the doctor appears “fixated” on his ex Zoe Slater more than 20 years after their breakup.
BBC soap EastEnders viewers are convinced that Anthony Trueman is the one tormenting Zoe Slater.
The doctor, played by Nicolas Bailey, recently made a permanent return to Walford and has been acting suspicious ever since.
Zoe (Michelle Ryan) — who is currently searching for the son she gave up for adoption 19 years ago — has become increasingly alarmed by the disturbing threats she’s been receiving in recent weeks.
The harassment escalated this week when Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace), Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), and Zoe were kept awake all night by a string of nuisance calls and text messages. Zoe became convinced that Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) was behind the mysterious contact.
Kat and Alfie insisted Jean wasn’t responsible, but Zoe refused to back down and decided to confront Jean directly.
Jean refused to engage in a conversation, and the pair ended up clashing once again. With Jean’s mental health clearly deteriorating, Kat and Alfie urged Zoe to stop provoking her.
Feeling isolated, Zoe turned to Anthony for support. He invited her over for a glass of wine — but viewers then saw him scrolling through a slideshow of photos of her on his computer.
Later that night, Zoe and Anthony shared a drink together, which led to a kiss and the two eventually heading upstairs to the bedroom.
Anthony once tried to persuade Zoe’s family that she was suffering a psychotic break — but could he actually be the stalker himself?
Taking to social media, one fan speculated: “What if Anthony and his wife secretly adopted Zoe’s son and are trying to stop him from returning to her…?” Another added: “I think Anthony has taken her child/children.” A third chimed in: “I believe he wants her to be seen as unfit to parent.” Someone else commented: “I’m now convinced Anthony is the one tormenting Zoe. He’s obsessed with her, constantly nearby. When she turned him down the first time, he looked furious, and now he’s harassing her to keep her close and punish her for rejecting him. Something isn’t right.”
In a 2006 flashback, Zoe gave birth to twins—a boy and a girl—after leaving Albert Square.
Her daughter appeared to have died, and she chose to put her son up for adoption.
Since then, fans have been speculating whether Anthony could be the father of her children, following their brief romance twenty years ago, which ended when he confessed he was in love with her mother, Kat.
