Kelly Brook touched down in Australia, apparently for the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity, but joked that her real reason was to visit her “auntie Sheila.”
The first celebrity for the new series of I’m A Celebrity appears to have been confirmed as they touched down in Australia, claiming they were visiting their “auntie Sheila.”
Kelly Brook arrived in Australia today to join the ITV show, saying: “I’m going to miss my dog Teddy, my husband Jeremy, and my food more than anything.”
The 45-year-old landed at Brisbane Airport ahead of the show’s premiere next Sunday.
She playfully added: “I haven’t seen my auntie Sheila in ages, so I’m really looking forward to it, and it’s lovely that everyone’s so excited for me.”
When asked about her feelings toward creepy-crawlies, Kelly joked that there might be some in her “relative’s” garden, adding: “I don’t know what you mean, I’m just visiting a distant cousin.”
“I can’t wait to go surfing. Like I said, I’m excited to see my distant cousin who I haven’t seen in ages… and of course the koalas and kangaroos. So much to look forward to.”
When asked about sleeping under the stars, she quipped: “I’m hoping there’s a spare room for me. Not too sure about that.”
She described herself as an “Australian sunset” in her yellow and orange dress, though she was soon shielded by an umbrella from the light rain.
Joking about the weather, she added: “Is it raining? I seem to bring the weather wherever I go.”
Her decision to take part in the jungle marks a reversal from her previous stance. Back in 2018, she said there were “a million” things she would rather do than appear on the show.
At the time, she explained: “I don’t want to eat eyeballs or sheep testicles and all the other things they make you eat on there. Even if I had a huge tax bill and had to pay it urgently, I still wouldn’t do it.”
In a 2022 interview, she reiterated her reluctance, saying: “It’s never appealed to me. Never ever ever. Like when Mark Wright asks if I’d ever do it, I just can’t imagine anything worse. But he loved it—he absolutely loved I’m A Celebrity. It opened up so many doors for him and gave him countless opportunities. He also made some amazing memories from being on the show.”
Other celebrities heading to Australia include Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley, former model Kelly Brook, ex-EastEnder Shona McGarty, YouTuber Morgan Burtwistle (Angryginge), musician Martin Kemp, comedian Ruby Wax, TV presenter Alex Scott, and Jack Osbourne. They are expected to be joined by comedian Eddie Kadi, rapper Aitch, and presenter Vogue Williams.
ITV is set to officially reveal the full line-up next week, although two participants will be kept under wraps as late arrivals.
Ant and Dec will return to host the series, which celebrates its 25th year. A source close to the show revealed: “Producers are expected to pull out all the stops to make the 25th series the most memorable yet.”
