General Hospital: Laura Set Up for Dalton Murder – Could the Election Be Thrown Out?

November 21, 2025 – Belynda Gates-Turner • Hank Dalton, Laura Spencer Collins

General Hospital spoilers reveal that Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) is horrified to discover the lifeless body of Professor Hank Dalton (Daniel Goddard) stuffed in her trunk. And for the newly re-elected mayor, things are about to take a devastating turn.

Could a murder accusation against Laura end up overturning the election? Let’s break down why Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is framing Laura for Dalton’s killing—and what comes next.

Laura Explodes at Dalton on General Hospital

Recently, viewers watched Laura unleash her fury on Professor Dalton after he framed her grandson, Rocco Falconeri (Finn Frances Carr), for destroying his PCU lab. Poor Rocco is now sitting in juvenile detention, frightened and facing serious felony charges.

Laura knows Dalton lied, and when he taunted her at the polling station on election day, she snapped. She called him a liar, vowed he wouldn’t get away with it, and even slapped him across the face. Though voters applauded her defending Rocco, the truth is Laura assaulted him—and she made public threats twice.

Now, just days later, Dalton’s corpse turns up in her trunk on General Hospital.

The Murder Plot: Sidwell’s Motive & Britt’s Terrifying Secret

Of course, viewers know Sidwell is the one who shot Dalton in cold blood in his own living room. Dalton’s temper endangered the secret research project involving Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), Sidwell, and their mysterious boss, drawing unwanted attention from the PCPD and WSB.

Britt is the only witness to the murder, but she’s terrified into silence. Sidwell warned her how he deals with “betrayal” and reminded her she relies on him—and his boss—for the Huntington’s medication keeping her alive. Without it, she fears the consequences.

Laura in Major Trouble: Will She Be Arrested?

Laura is in serious danger. She publicly threatened Dalton, and now his body is literally in her car. By the end of the week on GH, she’s panicking as she realizes there’s a corpse in her trunk. She even screams when Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) suddenly appears at her car—she doesn’t notice him right away.

If Dalton had been found dead anywhere, Laura would likely be a suspect. But with his body hidden in her vehicle, the PCPD may have no choice but to investigate—and possibly arrest her as early as next week.

Because of the Thanksgiving schedule, GH only airs three episodes next week, so her arrest could carry over into the following week. While it seems unlikely Laura would kill Dalton, the threats she made—combined with her history of wielding a gun—aren’t doing her any favors.

Sidwell’s Scheme: Taking Down Laura & Gaining Power

Laura was just re-elected, beating Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove). She has everything to lose. And that’s exactly why Sidwell is targeting her.

He wants Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) eliminated and full control of the Port Charles piers. Laura stood firmly in his way—rejecting eminent domain and pushing forward with Measure C, which didn’t go Sidwell’s way.

Sidwell told Britt that Dalton could still be “useful,” even in death. If Laura is arrested and removed from office, Ezra would likely become mayor—and he’s corrupt enough to carry out Sidwell’s agenda without question.

Sidwell also still has the murder weapon. He could easily plant it in Laura’s car, office, or home to seal her fate. It’s the ultimate “two birds, one stone” plan: eliminate Dalton and take Laura out of the picture, clearing Sidwell’s path to power while weakening Sonny’s influence at City Hall.

Intimidation and Control: Sidwell Claims His Third Victim

In a twisted three-for-one move, Sidwell achieved yet another goal by eliminating Dalton. Not only did he remove a major threat, but he also terrified Britt so thoroughly that even she has toned down her trademark attitude. Now, she’s pouring herself into her lab work to push forward her late father Cesar Faison’s (Anders Hove) research. Britt may be tough, but she knows Sidwell won’t hesitate to kill her if she steps out of line.

Her fear started long before Dalton’s death, the moment she realized Sidwell brought Pascal (Mark Forget) to Port Charles—the same man who once strapped a bomb to her ankle in Croatia. If Pascal had his way, Britt would have been dead already. So her terror is justified. Sidwell may be cruel, but he’s also incredibly smart—always several steps ahead. It’s no shock he’d jump at the chance to eliminate a liability like Dalton while also taking Laura off the board.

The Investigation Begins: Can the PCPD Find the Real Killer?

By the end of the week, Nathan is seen talking to a distraught, crying Laura at her car window on the side of the road. Either she called 911 after discovering a body in her trunk, or Nathan happened to drive by at the right moment. In any case, the police get involved quickly—and it should be obvious she’s being framed.

However, the PCPD’s track record isn’t great when it comes to solving cases. They often latch onto the most convenient suspect—just like with Willow Tait’s attack or the shooting involving Drew Cain Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison).

With Rocco in juvenile detention and the other teens involved in the break-in—Danny Morgan (Asher Jared Antonyzyn), Charlotte Cassadine (Bluesy Burke), Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza), and Emma Scorpio-Drake (Brayden Bruner)—all having solid alibis, the police won’t have many suspects to choose from. Even if it seems far-fetched that Laura would murder Dalton, the evidence may point straight at her. And with her recent altercation and threats against Dalton, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) may be forced to arrest her—ironically, right after Laura named him acting police commissioner.

Political Fallout: Laura Collins Faces a Nightmare on GH

If the evidence stacks up, DA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) will have no choice but to charge Laura. Her victory over Ezra in the election may be the last bit of good news she gets for a while. Should she be arrested, you can bet Ezra and Drew will immediately start moving to overturn the election and put Ezra in the mayor’s office—a perfect setup for Sidwell’s master plan and a nightmare scenario for Laura. And naturally, this spells trouble for Sonny as well.

There’s even a possible comedic twist: if Laura is forced to resign and Ezra becomes mayor, he might soon be removed too. Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) is close to exposing that Jacinda Bracken (Paige Herschell), the former escort, was having a paid sexual encounter with Ezra on the night Drew was shot—while Justine lied to protect Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson). That could leave Port Charles with two disgraced mayors in a matter of weeks.

The Road Ahead: Laura Could Lose Everything

Things look grim for Laura. Despite having her loved ones—Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening), Rocco, Sonny, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper), Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner), and others—firmly in her corner, none of it will matter if Sidwell has expertly set her up for Dalton’s murder.
