Patrick, played by Rudolph Walker, first appeared on the BBC One soap back in 2001 and quickly became a firm favourite with fans.
Over the years, the cherished character has been at the centre of several major storylines. From his long-standing romance with Yolande (Angela Wynter) to the tragic death of his son Paul (Gary Beadle), Patrick’s time in Walford has been packed with drama.
The recent months have been particularly emotional, with another devastating loss at Christmas when Patrick’s other son, Anthony (Nicholas Bailey), was killed by his secret daughter, Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness).
Her mother, Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), had been the prime suspect in Anthony’s death and was sent to prison, much to Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) shock.
However, this week, following Anthony’s funeral, Jasmine confessed to Kat about the truth behind what really happened. In Tuesday’s episode (February 17), Jasmine claimed there was video evidence on her phone — only to discover that it had gone missing.
After Jasmine went missing, Kat called the police on her. When Jasmine later returned to the Queen Vic, she revealed the murder weapon and claimed that they could blame Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) for the crime.
However, the police arrived shortly afterward, and in front of everyone in the pub — including Patrick — an enraged Jasmine was informed that she was being arrested for Anthony’s murder, leaving Patrick shocked.
Amid all the drama unfolding in Walford, fans have also been talking about the ages of Patrick and actor Rudolph. The character Patrick was born on 26 June 1940, making him 85 years old, while Rudolph Walker is 86 and will celebrate his 87th birthday on 28 September.
Fans have previously expressed their amazement at how youthful both look. On an EastEnders Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: “Wow! Looking fabulous!”
Another added: “This man looks so well. And his skin!!!” A third impressed fan commented: “Congratulations to them both for such a storyline. 85, where? He’s not aging at all.”
