Coronation Street fans have been left stunned after discovering Sally Metcalfe’s age.
Sally (Sally Dynevor) first appeared on the long-running ITV soap back in 1986. Over the years, she has become a beloved soap icon and has featured in numerous major storylines.
From a harrowing battle with cancer to a series of failed romances—including her marriage to Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell)—Sally’s time in Weatherfield has been full of drama.
Currently, the soap is exploring a dark new historic grooming storyline involving Sally’s husband, Tim (Joe Duttine).
Last week, Tim was confronted with someone from his past—a woman named Trisha—when he picked her up in his taxi. Tim revealed that Trisha had taken his virginity in the 1980s, at a time when he was 14 and she was in her 20s.
After hearing this, Brian (Peter Gunn) and Sally both insisted that what happened was grooming, as Tim was a minor at the time. However, Tim seemed reluctant to see it that way.
Tim defended the age difference, insisting it was consensual and claiming that all of his friends were jealous of him. Later, Brian confronted Trisha directly, accusing her of grooming a child, which left her visibly shocked.
The situation took an even darker turn when Sally stumbled upon a disturbing comment on one of Trisha’s social media posts, with someone suggesting she should be locked up for her actions.
Sally once again urged Tim to acknowledge that he had been groomed, but he refused, even pointing out the age gap between himself and Sally. Despite this, he ultimately chose to cut ties with Trisha and informed her of his decision, much to her dismay.
Amid all the drama unfolding for Sally and Tim on the cobbles, fans are only now noticing Sally’s age.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Did anyone else realize that Sally is older than Tim? She was born in 1967 and he in 1972.” Another added: “She looks so much younger, I would have guessed they were the same age.” A third chimed in: “Same here!”
