Emmerdale’s schedule has been changed this week on ITV and ITVX.
Emmerdale fans may be disappointed tonight (Thursday 9 October) as the ITV soap faces a major schedule change.
Normally, the show airs on weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long special on Thursdays. Episodes are also available early on ITVX.
However, tonight’s episode has been postponed to make way for the Live International Football match between England and Wales, their first meeting since England’s 3-0 win at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The match, held at Wembley Stadium, kicks off at 7:45pm, with coverage starting at 7pm and continuing until 10:05pm, followed by the ITV News at Ten until 10:35pm.
Fans can catch Emmerdale again on Friday night with a 30-minute episode at the usual 7:30pm slot.
The schedule changes don’t stop there, as further adjustments are planned for Tuesday, October 14.
Emmerdale will again be removed from the ITV schedule to accommodate the FIFA World Cup Group K qualifier between Latvia and England.
The game will take place at the Daugava Stadium in Riga, starting at 7:45pm, with live coverage from 7pm until 10:05pm. The soap will return to its usual schedule for the rest of the week.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), viewers quickly expressed their frustration over football disrupting their usual Emmerdale episode.
One user commented: “Yep—US Twitter fans are not happy with the schedulers because of the football! #Emmerdale.” Another wrote: “So no Emmerdale on 9th and 14th October then? The football is so annoying #robron #emmerdale.” A third added: “More scheduling chaos thanks to football on Thursday 9th & Tuesday 14th October. #Emmerdale.”
This comes during a dramatic period for the popular ITV soap, as John Sugden’s crimes have finally been revealed, with the criminal now abroad and on the run.
Meanwhile, Celia Daniels’ true identity was uncovered, revealing her as the criminal mastermind behind the recent village drug operation.
Elsewhere in the village, Charity Dingle, who has agreed to act as a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah Sugden, is keeping a major secret: the baby isn’t Sarah’s or Charity’s husband Mack Boyd’s—it’s actually the child of her ex, Ross Barton, following a night of passion.
Charity has gone to extreme lengths to conceal the truth, even involving her son Ryan Stocks to alter the paternity test results, making it appear that Ross isn’t the father, even though he actually is.
