The EastEnders actor has revealed his hidden second job after finding it difficult to land acting roles

Working in television can bring recognition and financial rewards, but securing parts in other series or films is not always easy. An EastEnders actor has spoken openly about stepping away from his early acting ambitions to work as a firefighter after “struggling” to find paid screen roles.
Earlier this year, Stephen Aaron-Sipple was introduced as the new Mark Fowler Jr on the BBC soap, following a brief appearance in the New Year’s Day flashforward episode.
He has since revealed details about his lesser-known career in the emergency services. Sharing a collection of photos on Instagram, he showed himself dressed in full firefighter uniform, posing beside a fire engine and alongside members of his crew.

In a lengthy caption, he shared why he chose a different career route, writing: “Quick story… 10 years ago I was a struggling actor. Then my daughter was born, and my family needed stability — something you don’t often associate with the acting industry.”
He continued: “I was incredibly fortunate to achieve another childhood ambition and become a London firefighter — a role that has taught me so much about myself, about life, about loss and about gratitude.
“It gave me a second family, made up of some of the bravest, kindest and most selfless people you could hope to meet. We went through everything side by side.
“We carried out rescues together, grieved together, found humour in the hard moments and supported each other through the even tougher ones.”
Talking about his return to the Walford-based soap, he said: “As I move into the next chapter of my life, I’m excited to continue telling stories and hopefully entertain and captivate audiences with my performances.
“I say farewell to the place that helped shape me into who I am today — F32 Stoke Newington Red Watch. I love you, my brothers and sisters. I hope I always make you proud. FF Sipple Fall Out.”
