Emmerdale viewers were stunned when a major character revealed a shocking secret on Wednesday

Fans of the ITV soap will remember that Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) first appeared back in May, when he was revealed to be Ross Barton’s (Michael Parr) secret half-brother.
Before Lewis showed up, Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) happened to discover a letter addressed to “The Family of Emma Barton.”
Longtime viewers will recall that Moira was responsible for Emma’s (Gillian Kearney) death in 2017, after the troubled woman kidnapped her son, Isaac.
Although she was uneasy about what she’d found, Moira eventually came clean to Ross about the letter, leading him to arrange a meeting with Lewis.
However, Ross found it difficult to answer Lewis’s pressing questions about their complicated family past — without exposing the dark secrets he’s been hiding for years.
Lewis has always been open about not knowing who his father is — but that could all change after a shocking revelation in Wednesday’s (November 12) episode.
The latest instalment, now streaming on ITVX, focused on Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) life behind bars, with plenty of unexpected twists along the way.
Through a series of flashbacks, Robert recounted his prison experiences to his sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) and his ex, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
Elsewhere, Robert’s former cellmate and prison husband, Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), had an awkward encounter with Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) at the café — after the doctor discovered that Kev had been faking a terminal illness.
But Kev had even more secrets to reveal. “I lie about things all the time. I lie about not having a kid all the time,” he admitted.
“I’ve got a son. I don’t want people thinking badly of me for never being around. I never planned on having him. Had a one-night stand with a barmaid in Leeds, and suddenly — bam — there’s a baby.”
Kev went on: “[The mother] put him up for adoption right after he was born. Emma something… right fruit loop. I think she ended up getting killed a few years ago,” just as Lewis was tidying up the table in front of him.
Emmerdale viewers were left stunned by the revelation. One fan posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Omg, what a twist! Lewis is Kev’s son!”
Another wrote, “Absolutely didn’t see that coming — WILD,” while a third commented, “Poor Lewis, after everything he’s been through, and now we learn he was born to two completely unstable parents.”
