Why isn’t Emmerdale airing tonight? ITV soap dropped from schedule, leaving fans angry.

Emmerdale viewers will have to wait a bit longer to catch up on the latest village drama.

Emmerdale won’t be shown on Tuesday (October 14) as ITV makes room for football coverage.
The schedule change means the soap’s regular 7:30pm slot on ITV1 is cancelled tonight, and no early-access episode will be available to stream on ITVX.

Instead, ITV1 will air a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between England and Latvia from 7pm to 10pm. Emmerdale will be back on Wednesday at its usual time.

Fans of the soap will have to wait an extra day to see Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) return to the village after his trip to France.

On Monday (October 13), Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) got a call informing her that her husband, Cain, had been arrested in Dover.
This happened after Cain left the Dales to track down villain John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) and hold him accountable for the death of his son, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).

Meanwhile, Moira and their son Isaac have fallen ill with an unexplained sickness.

Elsewhere in the village, things heated up romantically between exes Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) — though Robert is still hiding his marriage to Kev (Chris Coghill).

Emmerdale fans were left frustrated after the soap was pulled from Tuesday’s schedule. One viewer vented on X: “No #Emmerdale again because of this b***** football! @ITV seriously, come on.”

On Facebook, another asked: “Is Emmerdale not on tonight? Xx,” while a third complained: “No, thanks to the football again.”

Another annoyed fan added: “Football needs to p*** off — it’s so irritating! That’s what Sky Sports is for, not ITV or BBC One.”
